Kate Bates

Kate is a mixed media artist. After achieving a Degree in Art and Education, she has been teaching for 25 years, both in school and running workshops. Her current work explores botanical form, using bold shapes and colours with Acrylic on board and canvas. Kate spends her time in the studio on her family farm near Bath, drawing inspiration from nature and her surroundings to fuel her creativity. When not painting or running workshops, she enjoys walking the dogs, riding her horse, and spending time with her four boys.

Liz Cholmondeley

Liz is a mature Creative Arts Practice student at Bath Spa University who has been exploring a wide range of media and processes, generally using them to convey in particular her love of the natural world. Her work includes bold line drawing, printing and impressionist paintwork, ceramics, collage and photography.

I currently work from the Bath Artists Studios complex in Bath, focusing on making clean, sharp and simple forms in both black and white porcelain. I prefer a light touch approach to glazing; adding a pop of colour or simply a clear gloss to the interiors to contrast with the matt, sometimes textured unglazed exteriors.

Hayley Diamond

Last year I found a small watercolor set, bought some brushes and paper and started painting. Previously a stonemason for 30 years I am drawn to buildings that have lived or simply those whose lived experience have given them a unique character.

I use needle felt, wet felt, hand embroidery and free motion machine stitching techniques to handmake felt artwork inspired by the natural world. I enjoy creating both small three-dimensional pieces as well as larger felt pictures, frames and wall hangings. I also run workshops, teaching people to make their own felt animals and am a member of the International Felt Makers Association.
